I have used this product for over five years and was extremely happy with it however the cost is too high and I have changed to a new oroduct on your website and actually it is better and more reasonable in price.I gave this product 4 stars because it is a very good product if, and when, it works for you, and you have a confirmed hypo thyroid issue.This supplement worked wonders for my father. It seemed to get his thyroid working better after the stresses of law school that created his exhausted thyroid issue.I've had thyroid issues, or so I was told, for years now. I began taking this thyroid supplement years ago and it seemed the initial effects were wonderful and then the wonderful turned into terrible. At first I lost weight and bloating and my mood was better and it seemed I wasn't so tired all the time. It was doing it's job perfectly. After about 3 weeks of use I gained an alarming amount of weight in just a week, 10 lbs to be exact. I hadn't been that heavy since I was 6 months pregnant, and the swiftness of the weight gain made me really scared that something was incredibly wrong. I decided rather than going to the doctor I would just double the amount I was taking, maybe it meant that my thyroid was really stressed. Well...that made everything worse. I started getting terrible water retention and the weight wouldn't go anywhere even with vigorous workouts. Actually, those seemed to make it worse somehow. Finally, I decided to stop taking the supplement just to see if maybe it was the culprit. I was right, it seemed that something in this supplement was NOT what I needed.With the incredible lack of research into most herbs there is very little information about natural supplements and their effects on people. Because we are all so different in our chemical makeup there is never a way to really know what will happen after taking a product, but proper research and access to information would be enormously helpful. My doctor had nothing to say about this product or any of its contents because she didn't have the knowledge relating to natural or herbal supplements.People are so quick to say "check with your doctor before taking any medications" well the honest truth of the matter is most doctors have no idea what these medication will do or how they interact with other meds. Herbs are powerful and should garner the same respect as any other medicine out there, and this is not just from the consumer, but also from the medical industry itself resulting in proper research of their effects. I am annoyed that I couldn't find any information on the net about my issue with any of these herbs. My last resort was to set up an appointment with a naturopathic doctor, which was a complete waste of time and an incredible amount of money spent on a 15 minute meeting that garnered zero knowledge. Oh yeah...NO! speaking to the company is not the thing to do because they will not be able to diagnose ANYTHING in customer service. That is like asking customer service at wal mart to explain the inner workings of your computer, they can sell it to you, but Geek Squad they are not unless you are extraordinarily lucky.<<<<<>>>>>>Since I wrote this review I decided to get the skinny on my supposed thyroid issue. I went to another doctor and have a full blood panel done to see what was really going on. When I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue they did a saliva test. Turns out my thyroid is functioning just fine. So I cannot stress enough to please have a verified hypothyroid disorder or at least be really sure you do before trying this product. Otherwise it works great.It is shameful that you recommend 3 capsules daily, but only supply 60 capsules per monthI take this with my prescription thyroid medication. It helps me feel more balanced and also helps weight management.This stuff is wonderful! My thyroid is underperforming (hypo), leaving me tired all the time but these Gaia herbs for thyroid have made a really big difference.I like Gaia herbs and other Gaia products have worked well for me. I wanted this Thyroid Support to work as well as the other reviewers mentioned; however, I cannot recommend this for EVERYONE. I bought this product because it did not mention that you should take it specifically for hypo or hyper thyroid-ism. It only says that it's for "Thyroid Support" eluding that one should take it to support/maintain a healthy thyroid function. I followed the instructions and took 1 in the evening and 2 in the morning. I could not get out of bed! My body was heavy and groggy all day. All I wanted to do was lay in bed and not go out because I was incredibly lagging and felt completely exhausted!! I did not make the connection to this herb, I thought I was just having an off day...I continued to take these pills for day 2 and I realized, even though I slept most of the day, was in bed early and slept all night, I still woke up feeling like crap and lagging with an overall heavy bodied feeling like I was on sleeping pills that didn't wear off. I realized the only thing that I did differently in the past couple of days was take this herb. Once I quit it, it took 48 hours for me to get back to feeling "normal" again. I now have an entire bottle that will be going in the garbage or I'll try and return it and see what they say...but I cannot take these herbs at all! I have 2 small children and I cannot afford to be in bed all day.On another note, these are the first Gaia supplements that I do not recommend. I do use Gaia's Eleuthero Root herb and find they do what they say...I will go back to it. I give this product 2 stars because the company is good, the shipping and service is great I cannot complain but the product is was no good for me (it may be perfect for someone else).So I started taking Adrenal Support due to actually needing it (burned out night shift worker in the medical field) and I felt that thyroid support would compliment that. Boy was I wrong. I'm 40 and healthy and I have to say that unless an MD recommends these and you have the lab work to back that you actually NEED them, do not take them! I truly thought I was having either a heart attack or a panic attack. It was terrifying and lasted about 4 hours. This was starting with ONE PILL!!! Obviously no way to return them but threw them away immediately. Please be careful with this supplement.This product has definitely worked for me. I was diagnosed with a 'sluggish' thyroid while pregnant with my 2nd child. I refused prescriptions and modified my diet for my pregnancy. A year later while trying to lose the last of the baby weight, I noticed the same symptoms I was experiencing while pregnant- cold all the time, hair loss, brittle nails, mood swings, and the fatigue was the worst. Rather than consulting my physician knowing that I'd be facing blood work and prescriptions, I decided to give this a try. It's worked for me. I don't feel sluggish and moody. I've seen improvement in my hair and nails. And best of all, I can generally say that I feel much better. I'm sold.
